The winter transfer window is typically a time of significant speculation and potential major moves. A number of high-profile players are being connected to moves away from their current clubs. This article explores a selection of the key figures who might be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the player available, it appears an important move is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a contract with a substantial release clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Recent reports suggest Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. This England defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield falling through. With his contract due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, including Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit is considered difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

This Wales forward has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this campaign. Although finishing as the club's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun just a handful of league games. It is understood the North London club is open to a sale for the right price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been rumours from Spain that he would be prepared to accept a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a winter exit looks increasingly probable. Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. But, securing a deal presents major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

The energetic English midfielder drew considerable interest in the summer but remained at Atlético Madrid. Harvey Elliott

Although excelling and being named player of the tournament at the Under-21 European Championship in the summer, the young player has found it tough for minutes on loan at Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move won't become permanent. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing multiple teams in a season, a move back to Liverpool before next season appears to be the sole available solution.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey forward has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. As his current deal nearing its end, a host of Premier League sides – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a new long-term agreement but are in a battle to retain one of the continent's most promising young talents.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ side. The teenager is widely tipped to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at around £22 million.
